IIA Profile

Indian Industries Association (IIA) is an apex representative body of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) with a strong membership base of about 13500 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). IIA is a member of National Board of MSME as well as an accredited association from NABET, QCI with GOLD GRADE. IIAs motto is to create an enabling environment for the development of MSMEs in today’s ever changing and extremely competitive industrial scenario.

IIA's formidable presence is the direct result of its extensive network of more than 50 chapters spread in most of the industrialized districts of U.P, Delhi, Uttarakhand and surrounding states. It has carved a niche for itself as a leading perpetrator and facilitator in the M SME circle while striving for their cause since its inception in 1985.

In 1985, a group of committed young professionals joined forces and conceived the idea of an organization that can act as a c atalyst for the promotion and growth for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. It was thus that U.P Chapter of NAYE (National All iance of Young Entrepreneurs) came into being. In July 1992, however, NAYE was renamed Indian Industries Association (IIA) with the ro les and objectives of the organization further widened to suit the needs of changing socio -economic environment.

Objectives

IIA operates on the board-based objective of fostering co operation and support for the promotion of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. For more than 38 years now IIA has worked consistently in creating an environment conducive to industrial growth specially for MSMEs, disseminating valuable information on legal & technical aspects, latest development in industry & market, about latest Government policies , procedure and laws etc. apart from solving the teething problems of the industry.

Representation

IIA has been an active and permanent member of more than 30 consultative committees/boards/expert groups formed by Govt. of India and the State Government. The important few are: Member of High Level Task Force constituted by the Prime Minister Office for MSME development, Member of National Board for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (NBMSME), Member of erstwhile Planning Commission’s working groups on MSME Growth and HRD with special focus on Skill Development & labour flexibility for the formation of 12th five year plan, RBI Standing Advisory committee on flow of credit to MSME, Regional Advisory Committees of on direct & indirect taxes. All industry related committee/bodies of state government e.g. Export Promotion, Minimum Wages Advisory Board, Committee for Selection of MSME for National Award and Udyog Bandhu at all levels etc.

Organizational Structure

IIA has a two-tier system operating at State/National/International and the Divisional/District/Local area level. Eligible members elect 21 representatives to the Central Executive Committee of IIA (CEC) for a three years term out of which one -third members retire every year by rotation.

These 21 elected members elect the President who in turn nominates his team comprising of Sr. Vice President, General Secretary, Honorary Secretaries and Treasurer at Tier-I i.e. the State/National/International level. The President also nominates Chairmen of various Subject Committees and Special Invitees to the CEC. At Tier- II i.e. the Divisional level the President nominates Divisional Chairman, and a t the District/ Local area level, a Chapter Chairman . The President then operates through his team of office bearers at Tier-I & Tier-II. The Central Secretariat of IIA is headed by a full time Executive Director.

Activities & Support to Members

  • In association with the Govt. or otherwise IIA organizes Conventions, Trade Fairs, Seminars and Conferences to educate and inform entrepreneurs and thus facilitate industrial growth.
  • IIA represents its MSME member industries before the Government for effective policy formulation and modification.
  • IIA liaisons at the Government and department levels to help the member units in overcoming their troubles.
  • IIAacts as resource group for the entrepreneurs providing them with the consultancy in assortment of areas including technological, legal and policy related matters.
  • IIA acts as a close friend and protector of MSME entrepreneurs by taking up any kind of industry related problems/issues for solution at various levels. This personal attention/help is the need of MSME entrepreneurs as it saves lots of time, money and efforts of the MSME Entrepreneurs.
  • IIA identifies new business opportunities for its members in particular and MSMEs in general for promoting their business through Trade Fairs, Exhibitions, Buyer Seller Meets, Visits within & Outside India, Foreign tie-ups etc
  • IIA have constituted working groups/Subject Committee’s to discuss, analyze, review and recommend various issues and problems of different industrial sectors/areas in areas such as Labour, Textile, International Business Promotion, MSME Programme, Smart Cities & Cluster Development, Agri& Food Processing Industries, State Level Departments, Rice Mills, Women Entrepreneur Working Group, RTI Working Group, IIA Branding & Promotion, Power Working Group, Small & Medium Enterprises, IT, Import-Export, Labour, Energy, Taxation, Environment, Quality management and W.T.O etc. Since inception of IIA, these working groups are constantly contributing for the promotion and development of the industries.
  • IIA organizes Capacity Building programs & workshops from time to time for enhancing entrepreneurial and managerial skills.
  • IIA’s website offers latest information and lots of facilities for the members such as buy-sell desk, IIA members online directory, latest tenders, notifications/circulars, exporters directory, placement services, IIA Employment Services, special offers to IIA members, latest news updates, important links of all websites related to industrial development and many more.
  • IIA publishes a monthly newsletter by the name of “IIA News” which has a readership of more than 20,000 and is available online on IIA website as well.This magazine is full of useful and latest information covering a wide variety of topics besides the regular columns on taxation, energy/power and labour laws.
  • IIA conducts studies, surveys & developmental programmes on a regular basis to help in the professional and personal growth of the entrepreneurs.
  • IIA conducts a search for technology and quality up-gradation among MSMEs.
  • IIA aids in building an interface with foreign delegations for technical know- how, exports and imports.
  • IIAacts as resource group for the entrepreneurs providing them with the consultancy in assortment of areas including technological, legal and policy related matters.

A Joint Venture of Indian Industries Association and SIDBI, MKB is a Unique Information Desk offering Single Window Information Facility to MSME Entrepreneurs.

U.P. Exports News Letter

IIA has been designing and preparing “U.P. Exports News Letter,” a monthly bulletin for Export Promotion Bureau, U.P.

SIDBI: Apart from MKB-a joint venture with SIDBI, IIA has signed an MOU with SIDBI for providing term loan facility to IIA members

  • NSIC: IIA is actively involved in Public-Private Partnership(PPP) initiative of the Govt. IIA have signed an MOU with NSIC for popularizing their schemes among MSME's.
  • Ministry of Food Processing: In association with Ministry of Food Processing Govt. of India and Department of Food Processing Govt. of U.P, IIA has been organizing a National level event "INDIA FOOD EXPO" since 2004. A MOU with Department of Food Processing Govt. of UP has also been signed for the promotion of Agro & Food Processing Industries in U.P.
  • UNCTAD/FISME/FICCI: IIA has been a partner for the UNCTAD project on "Strategies and Preparedness for Trade and Globalization" along with FISME & FICCI.
  • Export Promotion Bureau, U.P: A consistent and fruitful partnership in the form of collaborations for different activities like EXPO and seminars besides the projects like U.P. Exports News Letter, Maintenance of EPB website and Geographical Indication Registration etc.
  • Professional Institutions: IIA have regular interaction with professional institutions for Industry Institute Interaction e.g IIM Lucknow, Jaipuria Institute of Management Lucknow and Amity University.
  • Ministry of MSME, Govt of India: IIA hass been a partner for Number of programme including Rajeev Gandhi Udyami Mitra Yojana and is participating in International Co-operation Programme etc,
  • Quality Council of India: IIA is a member of the Governing Council of QCI.
  • At International level IIA Signed MOU’s with Uganda National Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Small & Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB) and Nepal Cottage and Small Industries.
