IIA Selected for Govt of Germany sponsored programme for Indian Small & Medium Enterprises

In the month of Oct 2009, the fact finding team lead by Mr. Jurgen Henkel, Project Director, SEQUA,Germany, along with Ms. Agnes M. Gerold,Economist and Mr.A.Karthikeyan, Project Manager, ZDH/SEQUA Partnership programme in India visited IIA. Their purpose was to assess the capability and expertise of IIA for implementing a programme sponsored by Ministry of Economic Cooperation & Development, Govt of Germany for improving access of services to Indian Small & Medium Enterprises(SME).

The team found IIA suitable for implementing the programme and the first opening conference was held in Delhi recently which was attended by Shri Anil Gupta,President, IIA, and Shri D.S.Verma,Executive Director,IIA.

The partnership programme will be implemented jointly by ZDH(German Confederation of Skilled Craft) and SEQUA(a private company in Germany). “The objectives of the programme are to improve services of the partner organizations in India, strengthening the management aspect as well as to create and expand networking of the partner organizations in India,” informed Mr. Anil Gupta, President of IIA. He further informed that the specific activities for promotion and development of SMEs under the programme will be finalized in a workshop to be held at Lucknow in June/July 2010 which will be attended by Government Experts,Project Manager of the programme in India,IIA Office Bearers and IIA Executives.

With the implementation of this programme, IIA will be able to form an Indo-German SME network for mutual business gain.

President IIA said that it is encouraging to see that SME sector is now getting the deserved attention all over the world.
